攝影、電影、電腦與網際網路的誕生，新的媒介不斷擴展人類感知、記錄與創造世界的能力。每一次變革都伴隨焦慮與質疑，但也同時重新定義了文明的樣貌。

今日，人工智慧正成為下一個改變世界的重要力量。

然而，人工智慧所帶來的衝擊並不僅止於技術層面。當它開始參與影像生成、文字創作、音樂製作與文化生產，人類首次如此直接地面對一個問題：如果創作不再是人類獨有的能力，我們應該如何重新理解創造本身？

過去數百年間，人類始終是文化與藝術的主要生產者。我們以繪畫描繪世界，以攝影保存真實，以文字建構思想，以藝術回應時代。創作不只是技術的展現，更是情感、經驗與價值觀的累積。

然而生成式人工智慧的出現，正在改變這項長久以來的前提。

當一段文字即可生成圖像，當演算法能夠模仿風格、重組文化符號、創造從未存在過的畫面，創作者與工具之間的界線開始變得模糊。作者是誰？創作權屬於誰？藝術的價值究竟來自作品本身，還是來自創作背後的意圖與經驗？

2026年被稱為Physical AI元年

《碳矽之間》希望透過藝術作品、生成影像與公共討論，建立一個重新思考創作本質的場域。

本展以「碳基生命」與「矽基智慧」作為象徵。碳，代表人類的情感、記憶與生命經驗；矽，代表運算、演算法與新興智慧系統。兩者並非對立，而是在當代文化之中逐漸形成新的共生關係。

因此，本展關注的從來不是人工智慧是否會取代人類，而是當新的智慧形式開始與人類共同創造世界時，我們將如何重新定義自身的位置。

Every technological revolution in human history has fundamentally reshaped how we perceive and conceptualize the world.

With the advent of photography, cinema, computing, and the internet, new media have continuously expanded humanity’s capacity to perceive, record, and construct reality. While each profound shift has been accompanied by anxiety and skepticism, it has invariably redefined the very contours of civilization.

Today, artificial intelligence is emerging as the next monumental force transforming our world.

However, the impact of AI extends far beyond the realm of pure technology. As it actively participates in image generation, textual composition, musical production, and cultural creation, humanity is confronted—for the very first time—with a profound question: If creation is no longer an exclusively human domain, how must we re-evaluate and understand the act of creation itself?

For centuries, humans have been the primary authors of culture and art. We have depicted the world through painting, preserved reality through photography, constructed thought through literature, and responded to our respective eras through art. Creation is never merely a demonstration of technical skill; it is the culmination of emotion, lived experience, and values.

Yet, the rise of generative AI is dismantling this long-held premise.

When a single string of text can instantly generate an image, and when algorithms can mimic styles, reconfigure cultural symbols, and conjure visuals that have never previously existed, the boundaries between the creator and the tool begin to blur. Who is the author? To whom does authorship belong? Does the value of art reside within the artifact itself, or does it stem from the intent and experience behind its creation?

2026 is heralded as the inaugural year of Physical AI.

Through contemporary artworks, generative imagery, and public discourse, "Between Carbon and Silicon" seeks to cultivate a discursive space for rethinking the essence of creation.

This exhibition adopts "carbon-based life" and "silicon-based intelligence" as its central metaphors. Carbon represents human emotion, memory, and existential experience; silicon signifies computation, algorithms, and emerging intelligent systems. Rather than viewing them as binary opposites, this exhibition explores how the two are gradually forming a new symbiotic relationship within contemporary culture.

Ultimately, the focus of this exhibition is not whether artificial intelligence will replace humanity, but rather how we will redefine our own position when new forms of intelligence begin to co-create the world alongside us.
